Checked zones at address…front section does not activate with controller. Opened valve manually to make up for deficit. Flagged various sprinklers. Need to obtain parts for valve repair, so will complete tomorrow.

Follow up troubleshooting on control valve wiring. Comprehensive combination of toning and clamp multi meter…primary issue relating to bizarre routing of 4 separate common wires. Initially, unable to get voltage from hot wire via controller… as per zone number specified as connecting to valve. Toned to find hot wire from valve to controller. Wire was not even hooked up to terminal…rather, it was a spare wire wrapped up in tape. Very confusing. Attached newly discovered wire to terminal of corresponding station…activated, and retested for voltage at valve. Able to get 26 volts…sufficient to activate solenoid. Completed full wiring connections and tested for activation of solenoid. Unable to activate. Tested solenoid with toner…activated as normal. Tried using another solenoid…still not activating. Tested that solenoid with toner…also activated. Tried changing combinations of common wires…to no avail. Reaffirmed remaining zones activate properly with common wires hooked up in various combinations. All other zones activate, so common wires still functioning beyond problem zone. In lieu of unknown future time potentially being spent on troubleshooting common wire issue for zone, decision made to purchase Node, battery powered controller for valve. Went to DBC to get Node and accompanying DC latching solenoid. Wired up and programmed…tested. Valve activates as normal. Manually watered zone to help make up for deficit, as earlier repaired issues with sprinklers on same zone. Grass should rebound very soon. Wiring issue troubleshooting can still be performed at later date, but more immediate recovery of grass in zone was prioritized with installation of Node. – Mark
