Found address and explored back area where control valves are located. Pumps were off as temporary shut off of valve…so trying to discern which valve via geography only. Narrowed down to valve closest to area in question…after talking to homeowners about which sections were stuck on. Took apart valve after digging up for better access. Cleaned all internal components. Parts showed wear and had ground in dirt film. Went to DBC to get replacement. Valve only $24…so seemed a best solution. Replaced all internal components, bonnet, and wired in new solenoid. Turned pumps back on and recharged system. Valve did not stick open. Opened new valve manually…area covered was NOT area described by homeowners. New valve closed IMMEDIATELY after turning solenoid to closed position. Used shovel to do extensive poking around in vicinity of mainline….looking for additional valve. Located one buried under soil and grass approximately 8 feet north of new valve. Opened valve manually…area covered matched area described by homeowners. Turned solenoid to check if valve closes. Valve was very slow to close, but did eventually. Considering concern for it sticking open again, the fact it certainly did not need watering, the condition of the wiring/solenoid, and the long weekend…and in lieu of needing additional valve to replace…decided to disconnect solenoid to prevent opening from controller. Will purchase additional valve and replace next week. – Mark
